	There is nothing The Netherlands likes more than to mass participate in an event. King's Day, New Year's Eve and Uitmarkt are just some of the excuses for the Dutch to take to the streets in their millions. So imagine the response to an occasion held only every five years such as the Sail festival in Amsterdam. Lasting from Wednesday to Sunday, it starts with the "Sail In" when the tall ships and locals parade into Amsterdam harbour, watched by millions from the banks of the Nordzeekanaal. For the remainder of the time visitors can jostle their way past the ships where they are moored in Zeeburg near Central Station. Alternatively many choose to sail past on their own craft while relaxing or partying. Well worth a visit but be prepared for the crush.

Tram 26 provided a service from the park and ride at Ijburg and Amsterdam Central to Sail 2015. Unfortunately at the peak time on Saturday afternoon a tram broke down, forcing the local controllers to organise a substitute bus service.
